2006 diadora 1
2006 DIADORA CHAMPIONS!!!!!!!!
Welcome to the home of the P1 ECFC 91 Green team!!!!!!!!!!
2006 Portland Cup finalists
2006 FC Portland Cup Finalists
End of tryouts....

Jordan and I would like to welcome our newest members, Nicole (ESA) and Hillary (Nemesis)! Welcome to the team!

We would also like to welcome back all our returners: Katherine, Rebecca, Lily, Sara, Cassie, Rose, Clare, Anna, Jaclyn, Erin, Robyn, Charlotte, Bridget, and Megan!!!!

I would also like to welcome our new assistant coach, Jordan Bieler. Jordan was a superstar forward (ODP, all-world) at WPFC, then went on to play at UMinn and Seattle U. She has stated that she guarantees our forwards will work harder and score more goals than ever before... so I hired her!

We think this is a group of 16 players that all have the drive and desire to succeed, and after they come together as a team, will be one of the ones to watch out for in the state!

FOUR TOURNAMENTS, THREE FINALS... ONE CHAMPIONSHIP... and one tough Semi loss!!!!

The girls showed some fantastic spirit during the Evergreen Invitational. We enterered the tournament with 3 starters missing, and one injured. Going in we knew it was going to be tough, and that was made very clear in the first game when the Whatcom Rangers stepped up their game and scored three goals on us in the second half to beat us, 3-1!

After a little regrouping, the team stepped it up in the second game to beat the Reign Purple team 2-1 on a last second goal.... At this point we were starting to get going and figure a few things out... Our super guests, Sarah, GK Ashley (ECFC 91 White), and Jessica (ECFC 90 White), started to find the flow along with the rest of the girls...

The next day, in a must win game against the Marauders, ECFC stepped it up, beating the P1 team 3-1. This earned us a spot in the semi's against P1 Westsound...

During a scrimmage a few months ago, Westsound beat us 1-0, but they dominated the game. We had something to prove to ourselves in this game. We went ahead 1-0 in the middle of the first half, but conceded a late goal on a corner, as our GK and player miscommunicated on a near post ball that ended up bending in... 1-1 at half. Westsound came out fighting in the second half, scoring 2 goals in the first 15 minutes. ECFC didn't get too discouraged and fought back, scoring a PK 10 minutes later. It was a battle to the end, with ECFC getting quite a few more chances, but nothing was converted. (Westsound beat Evergreen 6-0 in the final)

It was our first tournament where we did not make the finals, but we proved to ourselves again that we can play with and beat any team in the state! Well done girls!!

TWO TOURNAMENTS, TWO FINALS....

Well, we did it again. Another fantastic tournament from our girls!

Off to Portland for the FC Portland Cup.. and whew, it was hot! We started out with a win over the FC Portland Sage 3-0, with some great goals. It all started in the second minute with Bridget following a wicked shot from Megan. Midway through the second half, Clare ripped a perfect shot on a drop from Rebecca. The cherry on the sundae (memories.... ;) was a great follow from super-guest Katie on a great free-kick from Anna.

Next was a tough game against ESUFC. They went up 1-0 and were close to winning it when late in the game, Charlotte slipped a perfect ball through to sprinting Bridget who beat the keeper on the near post with a perfect left footer.

On to the semi's, where we faced the same FC Portland Purple that we had played in the Rainier semi's..... and the same result! Portland went up 2-0 in the first half... but ECFC came out in the second half on a mission. After completely dominating the half, Jaclyn and Katie connected on a goal worthy of ESPN.. if they had any soccer highlights. Jaclyn decided to take it upon herself to beat 2 girls in the corner, attack the middle on the endline, and then roll a perfect drop to Katie who calmly upper-v'd the ball... fantastic.

It seemed like a competition for brilliant goals at that point and Megan and Chelsea didn't want to be left out. After a Portland foul, Erin took a quick kick wide to Chelsea who proceeded to play a perfect ball over their centerback into the path of Megan, who was making a perfect diagonal run... after a quick settling touch in front, Megan ripped one of her patented shots past a dumbfounded keeper.

Going into PK's, it was all momentum for ECFC.... superguest GK Katherine read their PK's perfectly, making two great saves... that made it easy for Katie, Sara, and Jaclyn to finish them off with some great PK's. Sorry Anna, no #5 needed.... Deja vu.

In the final we were again matched against the strong ESUFC team after they beat Westsound/Kitsap 3-1 in the other semifinal. ECFC started out sssllllluuuugggish... giving up two goals in the first 20 minutes... After a few adjustments at half, we came out firing. The whole team was working hard, pressuring ESUFC into mistakes and not letting them out off their end for most of the half. The effort paid off as there were great chances created for Anna, Bridget, Megan, Sara, Clare, etc.   Finally, Bridget slotted one in on a great cross from Megan.... but not quite enough as ESUFC held off the barrage for a 2-1 win.

All in all, it was a fantastic weekend away with some great memories.... ice cream, posters, blindfolds, puzzles, quizzes, pizza, dance parties, and the magic shoes.... they all made for some special moments that will last us the year!

SUPER BIG THANKS to our guests, Katie and Sara from the u-15 "white" team and our keeper, Katherine, from the u-14 White team!!!! Couldn't have had the success without you!!!!

Check back for news from our Diadora tournament victory soon!!!!!

ONE TOURNAMENT, ONE FINAL....

What a way to start.... after beating Harbor and Timbers Red, losing a close one to WPFC black, we got through by only allowing one goal against. In the semifinal, we played a great FC Porland team, ending in a 1-1 tie, then winning in PK's. Next up was the regionals bound Bend Ice... and here our early season fitness caught up to us, and although we battled at times, our weary legs gave up more goals than we scored.

Overall, it was a fantastic start to the summer tournament season, helping our girls believe that they can compete with anyone! 3 more finals to make!!!

We would like to thank Justine, our guest keeper from the ECFC U-13 green team!!! Great job in goal!!!

Heather and I would like to welcome the ECFC G U-15 Green players for the 2006-07 season:
New to the team:
Charlotte (Nemesis)
Chelsea (Nemesis)
Megan (Silver Lake)
Bridget (Aletta)

They are being added to an already strong group of returners: Rebecca, Lily, Sara, Cassie, Rose, Clare, Anna, Jaclyn, Erin, Robyn, and Izzy.

Heather and I are looking forward to working with this talented group... and seeing how far all this talent will take us! Congratulations Girls!
