There is not enough info on this subject on the web!
I found that out when I decided to educate myself on the subject! This site was then conceived in order to share information about the legal and financial aspects of Youth Sports Non Profits.
Please note this is a free service offered by a licensed CPA to youth sports activities. I am not an attorney so I cannot offer you legal services but I can talk about what I know of the legal issues involved.

I will be posting chapters of discussion subjects under the "Discussion Topics" tab on your left side menu. Some topics are already posted there. When needed, I will give links to appropriate sites for IRS and/or state info or forms you need etc.
Why should this be a topic of concern?
As I see it, the problem is that most Youth Sports activities are started and operated by ordinary people who don't give a whole lot of thought to the technical details.
I was one of them until my eyes were opened! We take for granted that what we do is most certainly a Non Profit activity since we work with children and the legal formalities are something only the big guys like the United Way have to worry about. Nothing could be further from the truth.
There are details everyone needs to know about forming your group, electing your leadership, finances, passing By Laws, forms to file with the State and the IRS etc. Since there is little on the internet dealing specifically with Youth Sports, this site is a start on getting that info in the hands of those who need it.
