MICK GUGLOMO Hall of Famer!!!
Mick Guglomo was inducted into the Washington State Wrestling Coaches Hall of Fame Saturday, November 12, 2005 hosted by PLU
Mick was a state participant at Vashon Island HIgh School. He returned to his Alma Mater to coach wrestling for the past 25 years, where he made the Pirates into one of the top 1A and 2A programs in the state. The Pirates dual meet record under Guglomo was 135-62. His teams placed in the top ten at state eleven times, including a 2nd place finish along with two 3rds, and two 4ths.
38 of his wrestlers placed at the state tournament and 11 won state titles. Vashon was the Regional Champion in 1992, and won each the league tournament and dual title 3 times. He was named Nisqually League Coach of the Year 3 times!! Five of his wrestlers have gone on to compete in college with one earning the NAIA National Champion title. Mick has always been a strong proponent of girls wrestling, and in 1984 Vashon had it's first girl wrestler and by 1995, 6 girls turned out for wrestling. This is where it all began!!
