Travel Arrangements for Away Matches

Driving Directions to AMHS and Away VB Matches

Riding Home from Away Matches
Players will ride the team bus or vans to away matches.  Players are allowed make arrangements to ride home with parents.  The coaches will have a signout sheet.  Please be aware that there are a lot of things going on after a game and a lot of players to keep tabs on, so we appreciate your patience to help make sure everyone is accounted for before leaving.

North Everett Drop Off
On matches North on I-5 (Orcas, Lakewood, Mt Baker, Mt Vernon) the vans will stop at the Marysville/Tulalip McDonalds to drop off players.  Players often call home on cell phones when we pass the Stanwood/Camano Island exit to give parents a chance to meet the vans.  Please try to be there to meet the vans which still have to make it back to AMHS to drop off the rest of the players.

Meals and Snacks
Planning for meals and snacks for road trips is the players' responsibility.  And since some of our trips are long this is an important consideration.  We encourage players to avoid fast food and junk snacks before matches.  Depending on schedules the van or bus may not be able to stop for dinner on the way home.  Our Volunteers are coordinating a snack rotation to avoid a crisis!

Homework
Travel schedules for Away matches present a challenge. And there isn't any slack cut for athletes.  (Generally they are allowed to turn work in early if they will miss a class for a road game.)   We are proud of the accomplishments of our players in the classroom.  The upper classmen have developed great habits to get work done during the bus ride and while the other team is preparing and playing.  So there is support, but  it does take some extra discipline and effort!

Van Cleanup
All players are responsible to leave the van as good or better for the next users than we got it.  We will carry trash bags and cleaning supplies on road trips. Players riding home with parents must help clean out the van at the away site before leaving.  Players meeting rides at the North Everett drop off must do the same at McDonalds before leaving.  Finally those riding all the way home need to do a final pickup when we arrive at school.
