Word was received today that Bert Grimm, past District 2 Umpire-In-Chief and long time volunteer umpire, passed away on Sunday, June 29th.

Bert represented District 2 at the Western Regional Little League Tournament in San Bernardino in 1995 and also umpired the Western Region Big League Tournament in Phoenix in 1997. He was one of the first umpires Certified in the district program.

After retiring, Bert moved his family to North Carolina. He was a great umpire, a good friend and will be missed by all.

A memorial service for Bert will be held on Saturday, July 5 at 2:00 PM at Impact Church, Matthews NC.

The 2008 regular season is closing and tournaments are set to start.
Tournament of Champions will be held June 16th, 18th, 20th, and the 23rd Championship game,
June 26th is the start of All Stars. We will also be holding State Seniors in District 2

The District 2 Umpire Association is a non-profit organization whose mission is to promote, develop, supervise and to voluntarily assist Umpires who participate in Little League Baseball. We will accomplish this by Training Clinics and personally working with crews throughout the District.
