EAGLES WIN BIG AT LAKESIDE
In front of a trmendous crowd the Evangel Eagles baseball team came ready to play. The eagles scored two in the first and never looked backed beating a scrappy Lakeside club 15-5. Tyler Moody went the distance pitching six innings giving up five runs on six hits. Moody runs his record to 8-1 on the year. '"Tyler gave us exactly what we needed tonight," said Coach Hooten. "He is a strike thrower and he made the Lakeside hitters swing the bat allowing only 3 walks and giving the rest of our pitchers a night off, that sets us up good for next Tuesday's game."
The offense was clicking too as the Eagles put up 15 runs on 15 hits led once again by freshman Connor Castellano's 4-4 and 2 RBI. Seth Bamburg was back in action after being off for three weeks due to a hamstring injury was 2-3 with 2 doubles. Others contributing mightily to the Eagles victory were Bronson Gillam 2-2 with 2 RBI, Brandon Spencer 2-4 with 2 doubles and 2 RBI, and David Duron 2-3 with 1 double and 2 RBI. "We did everything well tonight from pitching to hitting to base running, it was a complete game for us," said Coach Hulett. "It was great to have Bamburg back in the line up and then to swing the bat as well as he did after being off for so was a big lift to our club. Seth is a big part of our team chemistry. We have a great line-up 1-9 are discipline hitters and when your 7,8,9 hitters are Johnson, Spencer, and Duron you create a problem for the opposing pitcher because there is no breaks, those guys could easily be hitting 1,2,3."
The Eagles record is 22-12-1 and the next game will be at the state semi-finals against U-High at the University of Louisianna Monroe Tuesday. Game time TBA.

Harvill and Back Lead Eagles to Regional Playoff Victory
Evangel beat a tough second round opponent Holy Savior Menard 7-1 to advance to the quarter finals. Jeff Harvill threw five innings holding a strong hitting club to just three hits and one run on five strikeouts. Harvill pitched out of a jam in the first by striking out the three hole hitter and then getting the next batter to pop up for the third out, stranding the runner at third base. "Jeff had good stuff tonight mixing in his breaking ball and keeping hitters off balance," commented coach Hoooten. Harvill improved his record to 3-2. Chris Back was the offensive star going 2-3 with a double and three RBI. "Chris has been a spark plug for us lately at the bottom of the line up. He had two-two out hits as well as his aggressive base running and defense in centerfield were keys to our success tonight. He has picked up the slack with Bamburg and Johnson slowed by leg injuries" said coach Hulett. Ray Johnson added two hits and Connor Castellano hit a solo homerun in the bottom of the fifth. The Eagles over all record improves to 21-12-1.
The Eagles will take on district rivals Lakeside. The game will be played Friday May 2nd at Lakeside start time is 6:00 pm. All ticket prices will be $6.00 come support the Eagles.
