WELCOME TO LAKE CITY JUNIOR FOOTBALL - HOME OF THE BRAVES
Lake City Junior Football is a franchise of the Northwest Junior Football League (formerly Richmond Junior Football League). Players are placed in divisions through a combination of age and weight.

The NJFL Executive Board has approved new weight limits for the 2007 and 2008 seasons. The biggest changes are at the Junior level where we put a weight limit of 167 lbs on 14 year olds and the Bantam level where the 13 year olds are now limited to 116 lbs. This was done to make the Junior level more appealling to the bigger 12 and 13 year olds and to bring the 13 year olds in line with the growth chart percentages used for the other levels and weights. Also, notice that we are looking to form a team (drawn from across the league) of bigger 14 year olds that will compete against other teams in the region. Click on the thumbnail to the right to see the new Age and Weight chart.

Lake City Junior Football is a volunteer organization. A lot of people contribute their time and effort for the benefit of the kids. Please take an active role in helping out whenever possible. There will be one time opportunities and ongoing opportunities.

Practice begins Monday, August 4th, 2008 at Upper Summit (across the street and north of Nathan Hale). We practice Monday through Friday, 5-7 pm for the month of August (except August 29th -- we take that day off for Labor Day). After Labor Day, we practice Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, again 5-7 pm. A few practices will be held at Nathan Hale. You will be notified in the future when your team is practicing there.

Uniform for Monday, 4 August, is helmet, shorts, t-shirt (or practice jersey), and cleats--unless specifically told differently by your coach. After Monday, your coach will tell you what equipment to wear. WE NEVER WEAR GAME JERSEYS OR GAME PANTS TO PRACTICE!!! NO EXCEPTIONS!!!

REMEMBER TO BRING YOUR OWN WATER AND/OR SPORTS DRINK TO PRACTICE (remember you can pour water on your head to cool off). Failure to bring your water may result in being held out from practice.
