Calvert County Celebrates 20 Years of WrestlingThis season marks the 20th year of wrestling in Calvert County. This event will be showcased on January 8th 2004 at Calvert High School. Northern and Calvert will each wrestle Crestview High (coached by former Northern wrestler and former Calvert and Northern coach Jeff Fowler) and Harrisonburg High (coached by former Northern wrestler Eric Miller). A history guide including Calvert County's All-Time teams has been compiled by Coach Fowler for the event.

The Patriots placed third in the 2004 Patriot Classic, behind LaPlata and Calvert. Congratulations to Northern's first-place winners Collin Leadbeter, Andrew Athens, and Randy Oates, who also was voted Outstanding Wrestler of the tournament. Former SMAC wrestler Eric Miller's Harrisonburg, Virginia team placed fifth, while former SMAC wrestler and coach Jeff Fowler's team placed 10th. We hope it was a worthwhile trip and good experience for these teams.

On January 8, 2004 at Calvert High, Northern defeated Crestview 64-13 then went on to a 61-12 win over Harrisonburg.

In the season's first home meet on December 15, 2003, Northern defeated Roosevelt 55-12. For detailed results, click here.

On December 5th and 10th, 2003 the varsity came in 4th in the Chopticon tournament, which was won by Chopticon. On December 28-29, 2003 the Patriots took 7th in the Arundel Holiday Tournament, with Owings Mills winning. The last tournament of the season is the Patriot Classic Tournament on January 9th and 10th, 2004.
The junior varsity will compete in the Westlake, Calvert, and Patuxent tournaments later this season.
