For the 2008 season North Venice Little League will host the 9 -10 and 11 -12 year old baseball tournaments. Santa Monica Little League will host the 10-11 baseball tournament.  Beverly Hills Little League will host the Junior and  Senior  baseball tournaments.  Ladera Little League will host  the 9-10, 11-12, and Junior softball tournaments.  The first baseball games will be held on Saturday,  June 21 and the first softball games on Saturday, June 28. 

The All Star Tournament  is a double elimination tournament sponsored by Little League Baseball Inc. of all star baseball and softball teams from the various leagues in District 25.  The winners of the District 25 All Star Tournament will advance to the Section 4 tournament, with an opportunity for further advancement.

North Venice was well-represented at Dodger Stadium for the MLB team competition of Pitch, Hit and Run.  After winning three of the four age groups at the sectional level, NVLL'ers all had scores high enough to advance to the team competition.  Competing against kids from as far away as Henderson, Nevada, all three players posted their highest total score ever, when it mattered most.

Nolan Sax won the 13-14 year old division, Kevin Nugent took second place in the 11-12 year old division, and Kyle Brisacher won the 9-10 year old division.  Nationwide, over 600,000 kids competed in Pitch, Hit and Run, with only 120 earning the right to compete at major league parks.

NVLL has the honor of hosting the District 25 9 & 10 year-old and 11 & 12 year-old Baseball All-Star Tournaments.  We would like to open the Snack Bar for the duration of the tournament, but we NEED VOLUNTEERS.  The tournament will run from Saturday, June 21 through Wednesday, July 9 (or Thursday, July 10 if needed).

On Saturday, June 14, 2008, the North Venice Minor Softball Angels defeated the Beverly Hills Marlins 16-9 to win the Minor Softball District 25 Tournament of Champions. The Angels had defeated Ladera 13-3 in the first round, and City of Angels 11-0 in the semi finals earlier in the week.

North Venice kids won three of the four age groups at last Saturday's Pitch, Hit and Run Sectional Competition in Carson, while also bringing home two second place medals and a third place.  In the 7-8 year old division, Aaron Scharf won second place.  In the 9-10 year old division, Kyle Brisacher brought home the gold.  In the 11-12 year old division, Kevin Nugent won the title.  In the 13-14 division, North Venice swept the medals, with Nolan Sax taking the championship, and Greg West and Tristan Perez finishing second and third.

The division winners have an opportunity to advance to the next level of competition at Dodger Stadium, depending on how their scores compare to other sectional winners in the area.  Congratulations to all the NVLL competitors!
