West Monroe 40 Airline 0
West Monroe only led 6-0 at halftime, but exploded in the 2nd
half for 34 points. This year, the Rebels are slow getting started,
but when they do, they can score fast.
D.J. Banks was 8 for 11 passing for 121 yards and a td.
D.J also added 113 yards on the ground, but 79 net because
of the big losses on sacks. He did make up for it on 2 great
runs for td's..
LaDarius Abrams had 10 carries for 50 yards and a td.
The Rebels had 334 yards of offense, 14
first downs and were unstoppable once they got going.
The DeFense held Airline to 3 first downs, and 90 yards
of total offense. Special teams played a huge role with
Robert Lay taking the ball away from Airline when Airline
had the chance to score an take the lead. Tyler Cain continues
to produce with a 45 yard return for a td.
The reserves came in and sophomore qb, Paul Turner made a statement by
scoring on a long run and almost had another one.
Domcoriousn Powell then scored from 1 yard out.
The reserves scored 2 td's.
Way to go Rebs!
West Monroe 20 Ouachita 19
Wow! Can I say what a game! West Monroe was down
19-0 at the half and came from behind to win a great
game. Ouachita's kicker Matt Little missed a 31 yard
field goal with 8.3 seconds left to seal the win for
the Rebels.
I had LaDarius with 180 yards
D.J. Banks had over 100 yards passing tonight and showed alot of
charcter with his injury.
Tyler Cain had 3 TD's on the night!
I just want to say that we should appreciate our coaching staff
for whatever they done at halftime.
The DeFense completely shut down Ouachita the 2nd half.
This game reminded me of the old 2-5A and I hope this means that
all of the teams in our district has gained some ground.
West Monroe 17 Byrd 7
The Rebels improve to 2-0 in District 1-5A and 3-0 on the season.
Great call of the game was the halfback pass by LaDaius Abrams to
Joel Barfield for 48 yards
This game was a defensive battle until the Rebels opened it up
in the 2nd half.
The game was 0-0 at the half and the key
drive as always was the start of the 2nd half.
The Rebels held Byrd on the initial drive the 2nd half and
then when the Rebels had their chance, they took advantage.
The Rebels were faced with a 4th down play when D.J. Banks
connected with Josh Remedies inside the 5 yard line. Then
after an offsides penalty by Byrd, D.J. carried in in from the
2 yard line for the first score.
The Rebels held Byrd again and D.J. came alive again connecting
with Josh Remedies again for a 56 yard td.
This reminded me of the old 2-5A District. We were always in
a battle until the last minute in most of those games.
I love this type of game, it prepares you for a war and
during the regular season the last 2 years, we have not had this
type of test.
The Rebels had a 108 yards on the ground and 233 through
the air. D.J was 9 for 16, a td an 185 yards passing.
The DeFense held Byrd to 10 first downs 82 yards net rushing, and 89
in the air.
LaDarius had 15 carries for 78 yards before leaving with a injury.
The Rebels had 341 yards of total offense. The Rebels averaged 7.0 yards
per play on offense. Josh Remedies had 4 receptions for 144 yards and a td
and average 36.0 yards per reception.
